Hootsuite vs. TweetDeck

There are a number dashboards to choose from and personal preference definitely plays a role in which one is best for you. I’ve used Hootsuite for a while and enjoyed its ease of use, layout, functionality and versatility.

Lately though, I’ve experienced issues with the dashboard in that it’s been dropping the connection with profiles on Twitter and Facebook frequently. This has caused a few issues with clients and rather than reestablish the connections daily (which had become a necessary task) I opted to explore TweetDeck as an alternative.

I love TweetDeck!!! Its features are slightly more advanced and I noticed the difference between dashboards immediately. The URL shortner is automatic, you don’t have to click the ‘shorten’ button to initiate, the layout is sleek, and the app is intuitive, user friendly, and has a ‘quick profile’ feature that I Digg. What blows me away is the ‘translate tweet’ feature that translates your tweet into any one of 46 languages.

Hootsuite does offer valuable analytics and I’ll be curious to see when TweetDeck implements that feature. I’ll keep you posted on my TweetDeck experience and look forward to the next iteration of Hootsuite. After all, when it comes to dashboards, they’re all ‘a work in progress’.
